Chicken
Chicken meat sourced from U.S. suppliers. An excellent natural source of protein, amino acids, and essential fatty acids.
Chicken Meal
Consisting of ground flesh (chicken meat), skin, and some bone, and exclusive of feathers, heads, feet and entrails. It is very digestible protein and contains chelated minerals and bone and joint nourishing proteoglycans. Chicken meal differs from fresh/frozen chicken in that the moisture has been removed. It therefore permits a more concentrated and dense quantity of meat and protein.
Chicken Fat
High quality, naturally preserved.
Potato Protein
Potato protein is potato minus the starch. It is one of the highest value vegetable proteins there is.
Brown Rice
A nutritious source of vitamins, minerals, tocotrienols, and fiber. Carbohydrate and starch sources such as brown rice are not a necessary component of a companion animal's diet, but they can be fed in moderation and variety with nutritional benefits. For an alternative, see our Epigen™ diet.
Peas
A nutritious vegetable rich in protein, phyto-nutrients, phytosterols, minerals, vitamins and antioxidants. Peas are also a good source of vitamins A, C, K and B.
Flaxseeds
A plant source of omega-3 fatty acids.
Meat Protein Isolate
This is the required regulatory term for a highly beneficial and bioavailable protein isolate derived exclusively from pork meat. One of the most pure forms of protein available, and utilized by Wysong as a direct replacement for less ideal starch ingredients.
Dried Plain Beet Pulp
Wrongfully recognized as a "filler" or source of sugar in pet foods, beet pulp contains excellent fiber and galacto-oligosaccharides that exert a prebiotic effect. Additionally, the pulp contains ferulic, gentisic, and p-Coumaric phenolic acids.
Natural Flavor
Derived from natural ingredients, and included for the purposes of palatability enhancement.
Sesame Seeds
Particularly rich in the amino acid methionine. They also contain B-complex vitamins, protein, essential fatty acids, and essential minerals such as calcium, iron, copper, magnesium, manganese, selenium, and zinc.
Cheese
Protein, vitamin- and mineral-rich cheese.
Whey
A dense source of high value dairy protein. Low in carbohydrates and fat. Provides an excellent spectrum of amino acids.
DL-Methionine
DL-methionine is an essential amino acid, meaning the body does not produce it and it therefore must be provided through the diet. It contains sulfur and serves as a building block for producing proteins. It also helps naturally acidify urine.
Salt
Not standard, refined table salt. Wysong whole salt is mined from ancient trace mineral rich geological deposits.
Tomato Pomace
Tomato skins, pulp, and seeds. It is a source of digestible fiber and lycopene.
Taurine
An essential amino acid for cats and arguably for dogs as well. Taurine can be diminished in food processing and should be supplemented. It exerts a host of benefits for the cardiovascular, ocular, and central nervous systems. It is also an antioxidant and is important in muscular response to exercise. Many Wysong ingredients are excellent sources of taurine. However, as insurance, taurine is also supplemented to the diets.
Calcium Carbonate
Calcium in a natural form to help balance the phosphorus levels in meats. Calcium is crucial to bones, teeth, and metabolic processes.
Cranberry Extract
Included in Uretic™ to promote optimum feline health.
