High protein, limited ingredients... the fundamentals.
Chicken Meal
Consisting of ground flesh (chicken meat), skin, and some bone, and exclusive of feathers, heads, feet and entrails. It is very digestible protein and contains chelated minerals and bone and joint nourishing proteoglycans. Chicken meal differs from fresh/frozen chicken in that the moisture has been removed. It therefore permits a more concentrated and dense quantity of meat and protein.
Brown Rice
A nutritious source of vitamins, minerals, tocotrienols, and fiber. Carbohydrate and starch sources such as brown rice are not a necessary component of a companion animal's diet, but they can be fed in moderation and variety with nutritional benefits. For an alternative, see our Epigen™ diet.
Organic Chicken
Organic chicken meat sourced from U.S. suppliers. A superior source of protein, amino acids, essential fatty acids, and micronutrients.
Chicken Fat
High quality, naturally preserved.
Natural Flavor
Derived from natural ingredients, and included for the purposes of palatability enhancement.
Calcium Carbonate
Calcium in a natural form to help balance the phosphorus levels in meats. Calcium is crucial to bones, teeth, and metabolic processes.
Taurine
An essential amino acid for cats and arguably for dogs as well. Taurine can be diminished in food processing and should be supplemented. It exerts a host of benefits for the cardiovascular, ocular, and central nervous systems. It is also an antioxidant and is important in muscular response to exercise. Many Wysong ingredients are excellent sources of taurine. However, as insurance, taurine is also supplemented to the diets.
Calcium Propionate
A preservative.
Choline Chloride
Choline is a B-complex vitamin which helps to build cell membranes, promote nerve function, and maintain normal growth. Choline also plays a significant role in fat metabolism, liver regulation, and renal protection.
Citric Acid
Acts as a preservative by chelating oxidizing minerals.
Mixed Tocopherols
A natural preservative.
Minerals
While minerals are in food ingredients themselves, fortification is wise. The safety and benefits of fortification are supported by countless scientific studies.
Vitamins
While vitamins are in food ingredients themselves, processing diminishes their levels and thus fortification is wise. The safety and benefits of fortification are supported by countless scientific studies.
Probiotics
Probiotic microorganisms exert a number of benefits including improving intestinal microbial balance, enzyme and vitamin production.
